Ramadan is falling on head and it will be started in few days. Ramadan and fasting has great importance in Islam. Ramadan is the month of purification and purgation of self, soul and beliefs. The Holy Prophet (PBUH) gave a five-point course of action in the form of pillars of Islam for the achievement of piety and purification and fasting in Ramadan is one of them. Fasting is not only practice in the one religion Islam but it is an ancient and universal practice. The Romans, the Babylonians, the Cynic, Stoic, Pythagorean and Neo-Platonist philosophers highly praised fasting. The followers of Hinduism, Jainism, Confucianism, and Zoroastrianism practice it their own ways according to the instructions of their religion. To a Muslim, Ramadan fasting is not just avoiding from eating and drinking but carries the added implication of worship, psychological comfort, morality and legislation. It is one of the ways of building of one’s character, control over desires, and an inspiration towards social and scientific creativity. By fasting, a Muslim convey his obedience to Allah’s command, his reaction to His will, and control over his own desires and wishes at the God’s will.
